Our Interview with Alexandra, the singer of Pokerface

On march 27th I’ve made an interview with the main band of those three bands that was performed in S8 Underground Club, Budapest.

We wrote about this party here!

S8 Underground Club: District XIV. Kerepesi street 26. Budapest

Alexandra was very nice and the conversation with her was very great.

FemMezin:

  1. Tell me a little bit about the band.

Alexandra:

“We are on the second show of the tour, we arrived from Russia, we are a Russian-German projekt, we are supporting our last album Game On.”

FemMeZin:

2. How did you get the idea to make a cover from the hit of Arch Enemy?

Alexandra:

“We are just a fans of Arch Enemy, we love them. On the last tour we played „You Will Know My Name” cover and this year we decided to take a video for the song because we love…I don’t know Arch Enemy is a projekt with a good idea and we just decided to doing cover because we are fans of Arch Enemy.”

FemMeZin:

3. As a Russian team, why is Hamburg the center of the band?

Alexandra:

“You know I’ve just said we are a Russian-German projekt so we were organized in Russia and some members are from Hamburg and we are moving on between Russia and Germany and back.”

FemMezin:

4. Can we know something about the new album?

Alexandra:

“We released it last year in March and this is something new that something different a comepare to the previous albums of Pokerface and in consist of a lot of new things of the band so we still used trash metal as the main option. We are trying to something interesting something different genres like a death metal, like melodic death metal and some clean vocals to the album and this is a good option and that album put us to a new level. It’s a cool album we love it.”

FemMeZin:

5. What does it feel like a new band playing the same stage with Slayer and Megadeth?

Alexandra:

“As I remember we didn’t share the stage with Slayer, but we shared with Megadeth and we shared with Kreator, with Sepultura, with a lot of bands. Yeah, that is a great experience you know, to tour with big stars, big metal stars and you learn everything while you are on tour such a great bands and also for us to the new level because not every band have an a built it to sharing the stage with such a big bands and that is great feeling. (Laugh)
It’s difficult also because you have to be flexible, you have to do what everybody like not you wanna do and what your organiser wants you to do so that’s hard, but it’s great.”

FemMeZin:

6. Besides this hard music, which genres are stands close to you?

Alexandra:

“I love a lot of genres as a vocalist and also as a vocal teacher. I love to listen ot a lot of music, I have to listen to a lot of music and first of all before started to work in metal music I educated myself as a pop singer. So I first of all I am a clean vocalist and I know a lot of step in soul music how do singing, how to work with it and after I was joined a metal band I had to learn a lot about metal music so first of all I like soul and jazz music, but metal always be by my side and never thought that I would ever will be a growler or scream vocalist, but it’s cool experience.”

FemMeZin:

7. Are you at the second time in Hungary? What are your experiences with the audience?

Alexandra:

“You know I’m not the second time this is for me the third. I’m at the second time in Budapest. But I’ve been in Hungary before with the band our without. You know audience is great, but not everywhere. It’s ok when you’re not very famous band and I remember the first time in Hungary we performed in Debrecen and there were not too many people less than ten and the next time there were about sixty people and the audience was great, but you know the hungarian audience is like they like listen to music not like slaming or mashing they are staying and listening to you and they like it, they are trying to understand you because we are a new band and that’s good, that’s interesting.”

FemMeZin.

8. Did you have time to go around Budapest? Have you seen something out of town?

Alexandra:

“Yeah. I’ve had a walk through the Budapest last time in 2016. We had a day off here in Budapest and that was awesome I remember that walk and I still keeping the photos of that and I would love to do another walk tomorrow maybe, so this is an amazing city there are beautiful everything is full of historical and it’s great. I love to Budapest.”

FemMeZin:

9. I made an interview with the Nervosa the day before yesterday and saw you toured with them. How was the tour with them? What do you think of them as a band?

“We toured with them few times. Not only last year and we will tour with them this year also. That’s always a good experience because we are our audience is so similar this is straight to the right audience and they are nice girls and we love to tour with them so that’s great they are nice really nice band and we love their music it’s also cool and that’s great. And we love their new drummer also. Luana is nice.” (Laugh)

FemMeZin:

10. What are your plans for the future?

Alexandra:

“We are now planning one more tour in autumn with a german band we’ll se exactly we will touring. We”ll start to work on a new album I guess and I can’t say we will release it this year or maybe next year. We want to create something new it’s still will be like trash metal , but we’re gonna get some melodic stuff more we want to do some experiment. This year we wanna tour a lot and we will perform some summer festivals in Russia and Europe and next year I think we will work on a new album.”

FemMeZin:

Thanks for the interview and good luck for the future! Thank you for your time.

Alexandra:

“Thank you, thank you so much.”
